Refund & Cancellation Policy

Rules for refunds and cancellations when purchasing premium domain names on GoatNames.com—digital goods with registrar-based delivery.

Last updated: May 22, 2026

At a glance

Transparent policies for digital domain sales.

GoatNames.com sells premium domain names as digital goods. Payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal; domain delivery is completed electronically through registrar transfers.

Digital goods

Each domain is a unique digital asset; refund rights differ from physical merchandise.

Transfer finality

Once a registrar transfer begins, sales are generally final.

Good-faith exceptions

We address failed delivery, duplicate charges, and verified processing errors.

1. Digital Product Refund Limitations

Premium domain names sold on GoatNames.com are digital goods. Unlike physical products, a domain cannot be "returned to inventory" once registration rights have been assigned or transferred to a buyer-controlled registrar account. For this reason, statutory cooling-off periods that apply to some physical goods may not apply to your purchase, depending on your jurisdiction.

By completing checkout via Stripe, PayPal, or approved Escrow.com, you acknowledge that you understand these limitations before requesting a refund.

2. When Refunds Are NOT Allowed

Refunds are generally not provided in the following situations:

  • Change of mind, branding preference, or buyer remorse after a successful purchase.
  • Failure to perform trademark, legal, or business due diligence before buying.
  • Registrar transfer has been initiated, approved, or completed in your account.
  • Delays caused by your registrar, ICANN policies, email filters, or incorrect account details you provided.
  • Disputes arising from third-party trademark claims after purchase (subject to separate legal process).
  • Chargebacks filed without first contacting GoatNames support.

3. Domain Purchase Finality

A domain sale becomes final when any of the following occur (whichever is earlier):

  • The domain push or auth-code transfer is completed and visible in your registrar account.
  • We have unlocked the domain and issued transfer credentials at your request.
  • Escrow.com or another approved escrow service marks the transaction as completed and funds released.

After finality, the domain is treated as delivered. See our Terms of Purchase for related language on sales once transfer begins.

4. When Refunds MAY Be Allowed

We may issue a full or partial refund, or cancel an order before transfer, in exceptional cases such as:

  • Failed transfer: GoatNames cannot deliver the exact domain listed due to registry lock, loss of registration rights, or material listing error on our part.
  • Duplicate payment: You were charged twice for the same domain in error (verified via Stripe/PayPal records).
  • Processing error: A verified technical or pricing error on our checkout caused an incorrect charge not reflected on the domain page at time of purchase.
  • Unauthorized transaction: Confirmed fraud reported promptly, before transfer, and validated with payment processors.

Refund decisions are made at GoatNames' reasonable discretion and may require return of any domain already placed in your account if a refund is approved after partial delivery.

5. Cancellation Before Transfer

You may request cancellation before we initiate registrar transfer by contacting us immediately with your order reference. If payment has cleared but no transfer steps have been taken, we will attempt to cancel and refund minus any non-recoverable processor fees where applicable.

Once our team has begun push/transfer procedures or reserved the domain exclusively for your order, cancellation may no longer be possible.

6. Refund Method & Timing

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method (Stripe or PayPal) when possible. Processing times depend on Stripe, PayPal, or your bank—typically 5–10 business days after approval, but sometimes longer.

GoatNames does not control processor settlement speed and is not liable for banking delays after a refund is initiated.

7. Dispute Resolution Process

  1. Email us through the Contact page with domain name, payment date, and Stripe/PayPal transaction ID.
  2. We investigate transfer logs and payment records within a reasonable timeframe (typically 3–5 business days).
  3. We propose resolution: complete transfer, partial credit, or refund where policy allows.
  4. If unresolved, you may pursue remedies available under applicable law; chargebacks should be a last resort after good-faith contact.

8. Escrow.com Transactions

Purchases completed through Escrow.com are subject to Escrow.com's agreement and release procedures. Refunds and cancellations follow Escrow.com rules once a transaction is opened. GoatNames will cooperate with escrow milestones shown on your transaction dashboard.

9. Third-Party Delays

Slow registrar transfers, Stripe holds, or PayPal reviews are not automatic grounds for refund if we are actively working to deliver the domain in good faith. We will keep you informed of status.
